Words of Wisdom
The following are words of wisdom given to me in closed circle by my Buddhist guide in the early days of us working together. As time has passed and we have grown more used to working together, his speeches have become longer and more involved, and he overshadows me more than before. Therefore, these days I have very little recollection of what he has said in his addresses. Recently I have begun to record some addresses, and these will be transcribed and can be read by following the link at the bottom of the page. These taped addresses will either be the words of my Buddhist Guide, or those of my Roman guide John.

"Love is more than gold. Take love where you can find it and do not be constantly searching for wealth. There is no happiness in wealth - only love."
Friday 22nd June 2001
"Do not judge others because they do not behave as you think they should. There is a deeper reason for their behaviour and sometimes a gently guiding hand is all that is needed."

"Never doubt yourself. Never doubt for a moment that you can make a positive difference to someone's life today."
Friday 6th July 2001
"Listen with both ears. Although this might sound strange, it is all too often that you think you are listening fully to people and are thinking of something else. Nor should you double-guess what someone is trying to say because in doing so you are not respecting that person or what they are saying. You are trying to hurry them along, which does not honour that person."

"Material things are all around you. You can touch them, hold them and feel them. But there are other things that you cannot see and touch - the scent of a rose, or the sound of birds singing. These things are just as important. They are more important than material things. We are aware that you cannot live on thin air, but as you go about your day-to-day lives, if you take the time to smell a rose, or listen to the birds singing, you will feel much better."
Friday 20th July 2001
"Things are not always what they seem. You will not grow and develop if your mind is always closed. Things are not always what they seem - a beautiful flower; a rose, often has thorns. A spikey, ugly cactus can provide food and water for those who need it. The most beautiful animals in the world may transpire to be deadly. You need to keep an open mind to see things from a different perspective; you need to stand on the table, as it were, to see things from a different angle. You may become angry because of the way others behave. They may think there is nothing wrong with the way they behave. There is often a deeper reason for their behaviour and by looking at it from another angle, you will see things as they should be seen."

"You may feel at times as though you have come to a full stop. It may be that there appears to be an obstacle in front of you, or it may be that you feel too weary and that your feet will not go on. These obstacles are put on your path by us to make you stop to rest and to take stock of all that you have learnt. Once you have absorbed it all and once you have rested, you may continue on your journey - and in doing so you will find that you are now further down your path than you were when you stopped."
Friday 3rd August 2001
"Look up at the night sky and see the stars that twinkle in the sky above. See the moon as it shines. Observe how the moon lights the Earth, cutting through the darkness. You too can light the darkness in people's lives. You too can shine."
Wednesday 15th August 2001
"You might think that you understand war. You might think that you understand what war is about. To claim that you understand war is to claim to understand chaos. Wars are relevant only in the minds of man. They are caused by greed and lust for power. Rather than trying to analyse war and the workings of war, it would be far better if you all put your energies into finding out how peace works, and to restore peace."
Friday 21st September 2001
"This is your time. Use it wisely. You have chosen to come back at this time and you have chosen the path you now walk. Throughout your life you will meet many obstacles. We will try to help you when we can, but this is not always possible. The reason for this is simple. Some obstacles have been placed on your path by yourselves; some by others. These we will try to help you with. Other obstacles have been placed on your path by us to challenge you - to ensure that you develop and grow. We will not help you with these - you must deal with them on your own."
(NB: Concerned about this statement, I questioned him and he assured me that although they cannot help us (if they did we would not reach our full potential), they are always supporting us)
Friday 28th September 2001
"Never underestimate yourself. You cannot see yourself from the perspective of others - as you look in the mirror you may see faults, but the mirror is flawed. It cannot show you the person that you are within. Others can look at you and see who you really are. Trust the judgement of others. Let the inner self out; free the spirit. In doing so, you will understand more; you will see what others see about yourself. Your life will seem more complete."
"Words are not enough. You can speak words as they come into your head, but without thought they are empty - meaningless. Thoughtful words hold much more power, and good actions, kind deeds speak far more loudly than words ever could. Through actions, you may find true meaning, true power and the true way forward."
Friday 5th October 2001
"Some things only last a short time. Some things last forever. You place more importance on the things that are there for a short time, because they are there for a fleeting moment. You take the things that are there forever for granted because they are always there. The things that are there for a short time are only there for a fleeting moment because they are superficial and unimportant. The things that are forever make up your soul, they make up who you are today. They are of light, they are of love. They are important."
Friday 19th October 2001
"Speak from the heart; if you do not speak from the heart your words will often be empty and sometimes cruel. Think and listen more with your heart and less with your head; the heart cannot be fooled, but the head is easily confused by things that you see and hear and the opinions of others. Words that come from the heart are loving and pure. Others listen more to words spoken from the heart than to those spoken from the head. Words from the heart are alway true and of light and of love."
Friday 26th October 2001
"You only see what you wish to see. In doing so, you turn your back on the truth. If you keep your heart light and your thoughts happy, you will find it easier to solve problems that you encounter. Keep your thoughts light and they will build a bridge over which you can cross problems more easily. In turning your back on problems, a small stream becomes a wide river and takes so much longer to cross."
Friday 9th November 2001
"You often find that there are many forks in your path. As you look at them, they all look the same and there is no clue as to which you should take. Listen to your inner voice and you will be able to walk the path you choose with confidence. There are long routes, and there are short routes, but if you are meant to reach a goal you will reach it whichever route you take. Listen to your inner voice and it will guide you through the many twists and turns on your path and help you choose which fork you take. Your inner voice is the part of you that knows the answers and knows which direction you are to take. Listen to it carefully."
