Moments

Rays of sunshine against a black sky

Life is but a string of moments,
Fleetingly they pass us by,
Happy moments, sunny moments,
Moments when we want to cry.

We fear moments of contrition,
Long for moments filled with joys,
We shun darkness fear and trouble,
Treat our days like children's toys.

Once we've used them we discard them,
To be stored on memories shelf,
Take them out and look them over,
Get a glimpse of your true self.
