Imagine a rainbow - see the many beautiful colours stretching across the sky. You will also see sun and rain - for the two work together to create this wonderful illusion of a multi-coloured arc. It is the perfect example of opposites working together to make something that is special - that is beautiful. Although as a rule, like attracts like, there are times when those at opposite ends of the scale or on opposite sides of the table are thrown together and have no choice but to work together. There is no room for stubbornness in the equation - after all, how would it be if, when the sun and the rain meet, they refuse to have anything to do with each other? There would be no rainbow and one would have to give way to the other. It is not necessary to concede to those you are perhaps forced to work with and with whom you would not necessarily agree. There is no need to lose sight of your personal beliefs amongst the beliefs of those on the other side of the table. Patience and co-operation are all that are required to find a compromise in the situation you find yourself in at that moment. Then you may each move on your own separate ways - neither defeated - knowing that you have stuck to your principles and yet allowed space for another's point of view - for is compromise not one of the principles of happiness and well-being? If your time is spent fighting and arguing against others that you meet in your day-to-day life, you will feel drained emotionally and physically. Compromise is seeking the happy solution - the 'middle of the road'. The happiness of compromise makes rainbows - smiling across the skies of your life and the lives of others. Take in the colours and know that you have had a part in making the beauty before you. With compromise, rather than ignorance and stubbornness, you will see the smile that is on your face reflected by those around you. As with their opinions and beliefs being the other side of the mirror, those you compromise with will use that mirror to reflect your respect and your smile back at you. Opposites can never agree - the sun and the rain are two opposing sides of a coin - but this does not mean that they should not occasionally meet for a short time to work towards what is, after all, a common goal - to bring beauty and happiness. They simply go about it a different way when they are working separately, and there must be a balance of each. The sun and the rain both help to maintain life, but sun without any rain and rain without any sun both destroy life. Therefore both are necessary, both are equally important - and so it is with those you would see as 'opposition'. A balance must be maintained. With a true balance and with an occasional meeting of opposite minds, the result is the perfect symmetry of a rainbow.
'Til we meet again
