If we in spirit could give a gift to you during this season of goodwill, what do you think we would give? If you ask the next person their thoughts, the answer would probably be different to yours. There would be a wide variety of theories, but the prevailing two would no doubt be the gifts of love and of peace. Although we yearn for peace in the world and although we believe that peace is possible, peace would, nonetheless, not be the answer. If peace were handed to mankind as a gift it would not be a lasting peace and it would mean so very little. For a while all would be in harmony but then the underlying frictions and problems that disrupted peace to begin with would bring about friction and ill-feeling once again. So peace as a gift would not be an answer, for a lasting peace - a peace that has true meaning and purpose - can only be brought about by mankind itself. There must, by the nature of it, be a healing time, a time to strive for peace and a time to find an amicable way to resolve the conflicts that burden the world and make hearts heavy with greed and lust for power. As soon as the true pathway to peace has been found, our gift to you then and only then would be to touch the world with our peace and to show you what lies in store. In the meantime we are only able to touch small parts of the Earth and try to show mankind the way gently and lovingly. This we do gladly for we know that as we touch one small part and show that peace is not only a possibility but a reality, so it will spread from heart to heart and from mind to mind. Each and every person is capable of feeling it and of passing it on until it becomes worldwide and then peace will be the gift that you have given not only to yourselves, but to future generations, to the Earth, and to spirit.

So what of a gift of love? To say that we would give a gift of love is quite true, yet it is not limited to this season. Love is not a unique, one-off gift, for we are giving the gift of love every minute of every hour of every day. The gift of unconditional love is given every day of your lives, to each and every one, whichever existence or plane of existence they are on, and it is given equally and indiscriminately to each. So yes, love would be our gift to mankind, but this does not quite touch upon the gift that we would give in this season. Of love there are many aspects and love covers a wide spectrum. Our gift to mankind in this season of goodwill would be based on love, as each of our gifts are. It would have its foundations in love, for foundations of love are strong.

Our gift to you this season would be this. We would give each and every person on the Earth a candle. Then to one person, and one person only, we would give the means to light the candle and to each the urge to pass it on. Gradually the light would be passed from person to person and the light would grow as mankind regained its sense of community, the ability to communicate purposefully with others, and the ability to share. Once you start talking to each other and find that unity within your shared light it would be difficult to return to darkness and solitude. Our gift would therefore seem simple - merely a candle - and yet it is so much more than that. For within a simple gift lies greater meaning for mankind and this simple gift would give mankind the realisation that the power of love and the possibilities of peace really are in your hands.
